Every year I try to do what I can to give back around the holiday season. I want to make sure that I am spreading some of my good fortune to people who have had less than me. It’s not always easy, because I don’t necessarily have the most lucrative or fortuitous existence on the planet. However, I always do what I can to support those who have even less. That’s why this year I was extremely excited when the store that I work at put their space heaters on clearance. Normally they have a wide variety of small space heaters to provide alternative options for efficient heating throughout the season. However, this year there was an overabundance of small space heaters that we apparently were not going to be able to sell. They decided to put the space heaters on clearance and mark them at a severe discount. I quickly scooped up as many of the tiny space heaters as I could, noting that they were also extremely energy-efficient and redesigned to be family safe. I didn’t want to give away anything that would cause a fire or a burn in the name of increasing the indoor air temperature. When I got as many space heaters collected as possible, I went to my local homeless shelter and anonymously dropped off every single one of the tiny and Heating units. Now, the homeless shelter is warmer than ever and they even have extra space heaters to give away. I know that I made a difference in my community thanks to the discounted miniature heating systems and I think I will continue to give back with the power of heat every year after this.
