Water has been leaking in the laundry room for the past month.
I told the landlord that we had a small leak and he ignored my request for a repair.
I guess he didn’t think it was important. Now there is mold growing in the laundry room and my children are having a reaction. I knew the humidity was going to cause mold issues. It is the whole reason why I wanted the maintenance staff to look at the leak 2 months ago. I took my son to the doctor on Tuesday, because he had a really raspy cough. The doctor took one look at his throat and asked if we had mold in our home. I thought about the leak in the laundry room. As soon as I got home, I contacted the maintenance staff. I told them exactly what my doctor said and suggested it was due to the mold issues in my apartment. The maintenance staff director called about one minute after I left the voicemail. I definitely got their attention this time. This morning I had two construction crews in my home working in the laundry room. One of them is working on removing the mold and the other person is working on the leak issue. By the end of the day the problem was finally fixed. It’s a shame that the only time they were concerned is when they thought I might sue them because of a mold issue. I really wish I could afford to buy a home of our own. Even in this area, it’s totally unaffordable for a single mom.
