I put things off until the last possible minute

I am such a procrastinator when it comes to some things.

I waited to finish big presentations for work until the night before, and when I was still in school, I waited to study and to do my homework up until the last possible hour.

Even when my husband and I were getting married, I waited until the afternoon of the wedding to write my vows! This terrible habit carries over to how I take care of my house. For example, I know that I need to get our central air conditioner device tuned up correctly before we start using it in the summer. Every single Spring when the weather starts heating up outside, I am reminded that it’s time to call our local HVAC company to make an air conditioner maintenance appointment. I really don’t have a good excuse for putting it off at all. I should really just go ahead and call the HVAC company to set up the appointment, but I don’t like being tied down. I don’t want to have to wait around to meet an HVAC serviceman, to let him in the house, and I really don’t want to have to pay for a heating and cooling repair bill, then my husband gets so mad at me for procrastinating about it, and he says that it will cost us a whole lot more if the air conditioner tears up because it hasn’t been maintained correctly. I feel he has a point, and I’m the one who is supposed to take care of this stuff at the home because he travels so much. I feel I will just have to go ahead and make myself do it, but maybe I’ll wait until next week when the temperature is going to be higher.
