An oil furnace requires an on site oil tank which is big and bulky. You need the space for it and the cost oil isn’t cheap. However, oil burns at a hotter rate than gas does. You get better heating at a quicker rate using this heating system. The installation of the oil furnace isn’t as involved as a gas option since there is no flue or gas hookups. The maintenance on an oil heater is way less involved too. A gas furnace just requires a lot of work. It also can easily overheat and have large heater repairs due to this. Carbon monoxide can easily leak from it or the furnace can light on fire. Why would you want a gas furnace? It is the most common type of furnace so most HVAC companies have it in stock and can handle the maintenance. It is quite cheap to run and maintain as well. A gas furnace, with proper maintenance too can live quite a long time. You just need to be on it with care.
