When my little brother was a youngster, he was a pretty troubled kid.
He always threw these temper tantrums and would beat on my parents.
No matter what my brother did, my parents never gave up on him, even when sometimes they would get hurt pretty bad. Eventually my brother got some pretty good teachers that helped him to make some breakthroughs. He was able to verbalize things that he really wanted to do in life. One thing that he was interested in was working on things like repairing a toaster for example. There was this old toaster in the house that was broken and so we would never eat toast. The teacher told my parents they should help him to repair the toaster. He was so excited when he was able to open up that toaster and it was like it was meant for him because he knew exactly what needed to be done after looking everything over. None of us could believe it when he ended up repairing the toaster and it was working again. Then he moved onto bigger things like an old window A/C unit we had that also wasn’t working. I thought it was great enough that we were eating toast again, but I thought having A/C in the house again would be marvelous. Well sure enough, he was able to repair the window A/C unit and we had it in the kitchen. My parents were thrilled and they thought he should be an HVAC technician. He actually liked the sound of that and became obsessed with learning everything he could. He ended up becoming HVAC certified and now he’s a respectable young man with a great career.
