I bet my air conditioner has really low SEER ratings

I was online looking up some energy saving help when I came across SEER ratings.

I entirely knew that it was our a/c that uses up most of the electricity in the house, however what else would explain the fact that our electric bill is almost twice as much in the summer time as it is in the winter? After all, we live in a mediterranean climate, and so our winters are mild and wet and our summers are warm and dry. We might use the furnace for a week in the winter but we use the a/c for months on end in the summer, there certainly is no way around it. We have to be cool and comfortable. I pulled out our aged owners manual for our HVAC system and I was able to calculate the SEER rating for the cabin based on the information there. I know that the SEER ratings change over the years for the worse so it is very not an accurate number, then however, it gave me a rough estimate. Let me tell you, the SEER rating in our HVAC system is terrible. It less than a quarter of what newer HVAC units are rated at this week. I certainly believe our family might save a lot of energy if we have a whole new HVAC system installed in the house. I bet we would have enough energy savings that the new HVAC unit would pay for itself in just a few years. I’m going to call up an HVAC supplier and see what kind of deals they can split us.
