New HVAC and energy savings

It less than a quarter of what newer HVAC units are rated at today.

I was online looking up some energy saving help when I came across SEER ratings. I absolutely knew that it was our air conditioner that uses up most of the electricity in the house. What else would explain the fact that our electric bill is almost twice as much in the summer as it is in the winter. After all, we live in a Mediterranean Climate. So our winters are very mild and wet and our summers are hot and dry. We might use the heater for a week in the winter but we use the air conditioner for months on end in the summer. There really is no way around it. We have to be cool and comfortable. I pulled out our old owners manual for our HVAC system and I was able to calculate the SEER rating for the house based on the information there. I know that the SEER ratings change over the years for the worse so it is probably not an accurate number. However, it gave me a rough estimate. Let me tell you, the SEER rating in my HVAC system is terrible. It less than a quarter of what newer HVAC units are rated at today. I really think my family might save a lot of energy if we have a whole new HVAC system installed in the house. I bet we would have enough energy savings that the new HVAC equipment would pay for itself in just a few years. I’m going to call up an HVAC supplier and see what kind of deals they can cut us.
