HOA required me to have a gate around my air conditioner

I got a letter from the HOA telling me that we require that all homeowners who do not have a gate around their air conditioner, will need to get one to match all of the other homes.

  • I didn’t really like this idea, because this was under the assumption that A/C units are unsightly.

I actually disagree with this assumption, and I like to see my heating and cooling component next to my house. I know the HOA was only doing this because they wanted all of those homes to look uniform and just like each other. But in my opinion that lacks individuality, which is kind of what this nation is known for. Anyways, it was either get a gate around my heating and cooling unit, or get a fine and continuous harassment from the HOA, so I decided to just get the gate, even if I didn’t really like it myself. It took me longer than I expected to find a place that actually sold and installed gates for A/C units. Most of the HVAC businesses I called actually didn’t do that, but I found one HVAC corporation that did. I had to confirm what kind of gate the HOA wanted around the HVAC system, and ofcourse, they wanted the fancier, more expensive kind. So that was the one I bought and I had scheduled to get installed. I guess on the bright side is that the gate will help protect my heating and A/C system from any outside elements, whether it be animals or weather, so that’s one good thing.
