The plumbing repair was more involved than we expected

I’ve noticed some problems with the toilet at home.

It seems like the tank never fills with enough water. I know this is an issue, because the toilet is having trouble flushing. I don’t think there’s enough water to get everything down the pipes and into the drain. When the toilet finally backed up and did not flush, my wife and I had to call a plumbing repair service. The plumbing repair technician did not believe the problem was with the toilet. The guy believed the problem was our drain line. He used a special camera on the end of a plumbing auger. He carefully stuffed the camera through the toilet and into the drain line. My wife and I watched the camera feed with the plumbing technician. Most of the time that feed was dark. The plumbing technician told us that the camera only picks up objects. The dark area was likely water. After a while, the plumber saw something that caught his attention. He was 18 ft away from the house according to the camera. The issue looked like tree roots. The plumber went outside and tried to find the spot from the camera. He used a shovel to dig up five different places in the front yard. The guy finally found the right spot. Tree roots had grown into the drain line and they were blocking the flow of water. The plumber used a special tool to remove the excess tree roots . After that, he put a new piece of pipe in the area and covered the pipe with a special tape that is waterproof.
