My dad has been wanting to start his own supplier since my mom passed away many years ago.
- They had planned to start a supplier together, although I guess the exact method of that supplier is too sore for him to follow through on it.
He is stepping into another industry instead. He has been in technical university to sharpen and refine his a/c and heating skills. He has been an a/c company for many years, and his customer service skills are so good that people are always telling him that he should have his own business. When you’re a company and people trust you, your supplier will always be running based solely on the referrals you will get. So he has started putting together his a/c and heating supplier and there is such a larger learning curve than the two of us expected there would be. One thing they don’t entirely tell you in university is how to entirely market your a/c business, so I’ve been helping him come up with advertisement strategies and build a website. We’ve been asking people who have contracted him at his seasoned company before to give reviews on their experience with him so that he can start building a referral base. I think that once the two of us get that put together, he will be smooth sailing providing cooling relief to people all around the town. I’m entirely proud of my dad for stepping out of his comfort zone and doing this all on his own. I thought he would give up entrepreneurship after my mom died, however he’s entirely doing the thing.
